How a small-town dental office became a family legacy — and what that means for the families we care for today.
How it started.
In 1978, Dr. David Holmes opened a small family dental practice on N 6th Ave in Eldridge, Iowa. He spent nearly a decade caring for North Scott County families — kids, parents, grandparents — building the kind of practice where everyone knew everyone.
In 1987, Dr. Holmes passed the torch to two University of Iowa College of Dentistry classmates — Dr. R. Scott Daniels and Dr. Julie S. Daniels. They had graduated together that same year. They were also married. For the next 32 years, Scott and Julie cared for North Scott County families together — first the children of Dr. Holmes's original patients, then their grandchildren.
In July 2019, their son Dr. Greg Daniels joined the practice. Also a University of Iowa graduate, Greg grew up watching his parents practice the kind of dentistry that put patients first. Today, all three doctors see patients at the same Eldridge address the practice has called home since 1978.
